    Default Possible good news??

Thank you to all who contacted me regarding HB 4490. I supported this legislation to eliminate safety inspections for pistol owners as it is an unnecessary and burdensome requirement.

This morning, HB 4490 and 4491 passed out of the Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee by a vote of 8 - 1. The bills will now be sent to the full House for consideration.

I appreciate hearing from so many in support of this legislation. Thank you again for your comments.

    Sincerely,

I purchased a pistol on a Saturday, my department is open from 8am to 5pm for 'inspection'. I am working an hour away for a contractor for the next two weeks, I am going to be getting the gun 'inspected' 1 day after my 10 day limit.

The safety inspection is ridiculous and unnecessary. It is a burden to everyone. I have never once been to the department to register a gun where the people working were excited to do their job, they all sit in their cubes, see me walk up, as what I need, I saw gun registration, they all look at each other, shrug and one moaps up to the counter.

Seems that this is just a matter of time as it has passed the senate now.

+1 on that! I thought it was just my local PD, but I guess it's universal. Too funny.

wow, such an old thread. But, I just read that the inspection was lifted today. you can mail in the new forms instead of getting the "inspection." Not much else changed, except I think you have 30 days to get it mailed in, and until then require the form to be with the gun.
