| The GMW light fits on a tripod adapted from the HK21E tripod. |
| The little brother to
the GMG is here. Called the GMW, Light, with GMW standing for
Leichtgewicht Granatmaschinenwaffe, (Lightweight Grenade Machine Weapon),
the GMW is designed to be smaller, lighter and more portable than the full
size GMG, and able to get out into the field more easily without perhaps
being restricted to a vehicle mount.
The GMW is mounted on a modified HK21E tripod as shown in the photograph above. Compare the size of the GMW to the GMG in the table below. It is not known if the GMW is actually in production.
