    Default HK in Georgia

    Greetings,

I hope you will enjoy pictures from Georgia.

There was some controversy about how Georgia received its G36 rifles, claiming that HK supported Georgias effort to prepare for war with Russia however it should be noted that Georgian security services and law enforcement agencies received G36 rifles much earlier, I guess in the middle of 90's directly from HK company and even underwent some trials here. Also early LMG models with heavy barrels and twin drum magazines are still in the inventory. I would also say that in general G36 is highly regarded by veteran service members and I guess most of the rifles receive only moderate service and are not supported by qualified armorers or stocks of spare parts. Most of them are been replaced by Bushmaster Xm15 carbines however the most elite spec ops unit belonging to Ministry of Internal Affairs still is using G36's.

2003. Unrest following the presidential elections. Those operators also belong to Special State Protection Service wich has its own SWAT type unit.

2008. War with Russia. This operator probably belongs to the one of MIA's tactical teams.

again 2008. the comentary to this photo on original source stated that this is an HK sniper rifle purchased without "mandatory permission of the German government" I guess being a dumbass is mandatory to every journalist no matter where he comes from.

Hmmm... 2008, the year that EUC's were first required by Germany, eliminating all of the dealer sample sales in the US.

At close look at the markings on the left side of the receivers of the G36K's can be very revealing. ;)

The G36 is traditional choice of arms of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affair's higher tier units. Those are the Special Operations Center ( the most elite force ), the Anti Crime/Drugs Department and the Special State Protection Service. However the SOC is the only unit that uses the G36A, K and C in actual combat. They seemingly prefer aimpoint over standart optics. Kind of became their trademark over the years, more precicely since 2005.

A more common H&K weapon is the MP5 used primarly by Financial Police Special Activities Group, SSPS, Strategic Objects Defence Department and Army Special Operations Brigade
