    Default MR223 barrel on HK416 upper ?

    Gents,

I am in the process of building a 416 clone, using the original 416 upper, carrier, handguard & gas block.

I was not able to find the 416 bolt & barrel but I can purchase MR223 parts. Are the MR223 bolt & barrel (10.3") compatible ?

    thank !

MR223A3 and HK416A5 barrel is not compatible with older versions of MR223 and HK416. See my pictures here: Montrala: New style barrel extension in HK416A5 and MR223A3

Montrala, I am also going into the same direction as our Belgian friend. What do you recommend if someone wants to build a 10.4 upper knowing what's on sale in the EU? I saw an upper on sale on GB at ca 3.7K and that is a bit overkill..

    It's not from ZIB.

I have a contact that provide my company with a full parts kit from an HK416D, except barrel & bolt.

Well yeah bottom line is the same, it is now possible to get 416(D) parts except BCG and barrel, which are the "only" parts regulated. At least in Germany, where these 416 parts are being sold (for what i know).

Zib actually gets the parts from an Austrian firm who gets them direct from HK. I assume that they are cleaning out the back of old parts that are getting superseded by new stuff... Other oddballs like G41 barreled actions have popped up in Germany.

I assume the original poster is trying to put together a legal ful auto (legal in Belguim and other places).

    Montrala:

My 416 uppers (AFs and an AI that I used to own) all have a notch in the upper receiver into which slides a notch on the barrel extension. There is no wedge to slip in to place.

In fact, I am ordering directly from the Austrian company ;-)

And yes, I am in a situation where I can legally build a gun (I have the complete gunsmithing licence).

I will check with the supplier the type of the upper receiver.

I have a friend, a licenced collector who can legally own full autos, who is seriously considering buying a 416 clone and a solution would be to build one from those NOS parts. But the supplier doesn't have the barrel nor the bolt. I suppose that a 10.3" MR223 pre-A3 barrel would be a perfect fit.
