It really all depends on what state you are in, and then luck. Here in AZ it took 4 months for me to get mine, from the time DPS cashed my check. Other people who were in the same class as me got theirs in 5 days. Where are you located?

Just took me 5 months to get mine here in Florida. 6 weeks of that was due to Live-Scans having to be done again!

My CWP issued on Oct. 23rd and showed up in the mail on the 29th. Much faster turnaround than I expected. Guess they've cleared out the backlog.

6 weeks here back in early November 2007 (electronic fingerprinting tho) speedys up the process or at least it did back then.

Just did mine, took about 3 weeks.

Sent in 18 Dec 09, got it back 6 Jan 10.

Really fast considering there were two Holidays in that timeframe.

Called and was able to schedule appointment same day at Division of Licensing, Miami Regional Office. That was 8 Nov 2010. At office, filled out application paperwork on screen at a computer kiosk, had photo taken, and electronic fingerprinting done. Whole office process, including a short wait for someone to help me, took about 50 minutes. Received license in mail on 17 Nov 2010, with effective issue date of 10 Nov 2010.

There is no free parking anywhere at this location. I parked in a nearby metered garage, which cost about $2.50. Lady who assisted me in office was super nice. One potential hangup, which would have lengthened receipt time, could have been the electronic fingerprinting. Was told my prints looked borderline acceptable, and a re-visit to office would be required for a second printing if I received a letter saying to do so. Apparently they were OK.

I was extremely satisfied with my application experience. Office is located at 401 NW 2nd Ave, Suite 314-N (third floor), Miami. Phone: (305) 377-5950 to make appointment. Hours: M-F, 0800-1630.

For a complete list of Florida regional licensing offices, go to: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/staff/regions.html. Suggest when calling for appointment to double-check office suite number with the person you speak to. Suite number of cc office I visited differed from website listing, although street address was the same.

If you mail out the pack the "old" way to Tally you are looking at under 90 days... if you call your regional office, its in less than 14 days. but its by apointment only.
