I have the older model T10-M. The unit here (T12-V) is just a 9Hz refresh. The -M variant has a 30Hz refresh.
Nice little units. They are not really functional as a primary sight. But they make a great addition as an auxiliary sight. I have mine side mounted on a Spuhr rail / G36 set up.
In mixed lighting / highly shadowed conditions, they are quite capable of identifying human-shaped objects out to 30 to 40yds, depending on atmospheric conditions / background heat, etc.
I did some testing in cold NY conditions years back. In very dark conditions, without the thermal unit, my neighbor could easily get within 15yds of me before I would notice "something" there.. and that was based mostly on sound, and a bit of perception of movement. With the thermal unit, I could watch him every step of the way out to 60 or so yards. Makes a great way to quickly check dark corners, shadows, and things like that.
