its a horrible show, they could all carry P7's and 416's and it wouldn't help. I had to break the news to my wife that the re-boot sucked, she didn't take it to well ;)

the old Magnum PI was one of the best shows out there, right along with Simon & Simon and Baa Baa Black Sheep(which was sorta the forerunner of the other 2 shows, with many of the same actors) What's interesting about those 3 series......all(not sure about Conrad, but suspect he was a gun guy) the leads are truly died in the wool gun people.

the new magnum wouldn't have the balls(or conviction) to kill Ivan......and CBS these days I bet wouldn't let him. Ivan....Did you see the Sunrise? (one of the best episodes)

also, i'm still pissed off at no mustache.

and I just came across an article about how the reboot was going to be centered around Magnum's daughter Lily, and her coming back to Hawai'i to take over Magnum's P.I. firm.
see, THAT would have been neat. I'd even say it would work with a couple of her "buddies" being chicks, as well as guys.
I agree, i don't understand why they couldn't come up with new characters based on the old show. Is Hollywood out of new ideas?

And just because they called it Magnum, and BARELY followed the old series, honestly they did not.

    But thing about it.

Would Hawaii Five O - the original, not the remake work with today's Millenials? Doubtful.

The audience WATCHING TV series these days is COMPLETELY different that the audience back in the 70's and the 80's. Just not the same viewing audience.

Not good, not bad. Just the fact that technology has changed the world, FOREVER.

We can't 'go home again' as it were to the OLD MAGNUM. You can buy the complete series and watch to your hearts content.

But for the NEW Magnum, well it's like I tell the wife. "Some times, you just have to let art flow over you"

IS HOLLYWOOD OUT OF NEW IDEAS?

    UH, YEAH

They have 'remade' so many OLD shows... can they REMAKE BATMAN AGAIN???

I mean, GHOST BUSTERS remade as an all girl cast. At least the three living actors that were in the originals got cameo's. Not long, but at least they were there. Now if it were a REAL ghost busters remake, they would have summoned the guy BACK from the dead for this movie.

NAH, never mind. That would actually take so much effort most Hollywood exec heads would spin in circles spewing pea soup...

Because they have NOT had many ideas AT ALL over the past two decades... unless it might be Christian genre movies that are starting to slowly take off.

    I like the new show...

Your viewpoint is about comparing it to Tom Selleck.

I like it because it has the same feel...

The new guy playing him is cool.

Patience. Just remember how many Robin's their have been, and recognize we need at least that many Batman movies to still be made. Then there's the Batwoman movies, some with Commissioner Barbara Gordon and some without/with her undetermined protegé, oh and there's the Batman Beyond comics that still need to be made into live action.
