Default PTR 91 vs G3 buffer: PTR buffer pin looks longer?

I haven't pulled both buffers out of the backplate & stock assemblies but the buffer pin seems to protrude further from the buffer in the PTR. Is this indicative of anything? Is one preferred?

I'd be surprised to learn that ptr is making the buffer assembly instead of sourcing them from one of the original makers. Maybe the difference you see is due to wear? How about a side by side picture.

Sorry for the delay in posting a photo. G3 on the left; PTR on the right. The PTR buffer pin seems to be out about a third again as much s the G3 surplus buffer. Maybe close to twice as much. The G3 one appears to match most other photos I've seen of the G3 buffers. If its worn out though, I don't want to use it.

It's not worn out....probably couldn't wear it out if you spent years trying.

Then perhaps the PTR one is out of spec?

The PTR buffer is made here, and they have decided to change the design with hopes of lessening recoil.

I've both, and honestly can't tell the difference.

Hopefully it's twice as long on the inside too.
