    Default Roll pin mess up

Screwed myself on getting the roll pin out of the mag button release.

I used to small of a punch and it broke off inside the roll pin. Need advice on how to get the pin out so I can replace my contact piece for the paddle release.

Will that button spin around so you can push the pin out from the other side?

Doesn't seem to be able to spin around.

You shpould be able to drive it down from the top, just put blue painters tape on the rifle to keep from accidently scratching the finish. Its a pain but can be done. Or worse comes to worst, You might see if you can use the largest sweing needle that will fit down that hole, grind the tip off and the eye off and see if you can drop it down from the top, use a steel flat on the end of it, (or possibly wood)and tap the flat with a hammer to see if it will dislodge. I would only attempt after I tried driving it downward. Then use pliers to grab it.

Do you have a set of roll pin punches? If you do use the proper size roll pin pinch and hammer it out from the top. Might take a couple of hard hits because of the broken pin, but it will come out.
The suggestion to protect the firearm with masking take us a good one and I would do that as well. Your punch could slip and you'll be thankful.

If you're going to install a paddle release, don't worry about the finish. You'll have to re-do it anyway...

If the pin won't come out easily, use a Dremel cutoff wheel and split the button. New ones are cheap.

The POF clones come with a paddle release.

I should've looked at the pix, sorry. Never fondled one.

I'd still split it with a cutoff wheel.

Totally forgot about this option, I'll probably have to do that if I can't get the pin out, the replacement parts aren't expensive at all.

If driving it out from the opposite side doesn't work, you might try drilling it out.
