    Default PTR9CT issues

Already shot about 300 rounds previously with maybe 3 or 4 FTF. I expected it from what I've heard during break in process. But today things got really bad. Casings bent pretty bad during normal feeds. I don't recall this happening before but I'm not certain.

So we went to range today and about 200 rounds into it I started to have failure to feeds about every two or three shots. Sometimes I could go 6 or 7 shots then another ftf. I had to remove mag and with finger pry it out of the ejector and at times stuck with the new round.

Im aware they mention it will have FTF issues during break in but not every 2 or 3 rounds right? This issue just started. I'm over 700 rounds now total.

Note these casings in picture are casings while cycling properly with no ftf. I didnt think to grab the ones crushed by bolt which had casing tears and crushed at times.

Ammo used were both 147 grain and 115 grain. Using two different german made hk mags. I have an H&K sp5 that ate the ammo just fine using same mags.

Makes me think it's an ejector issue just from where all casings are bent on one side.

Calling PTR tomorrow. Your thoughts or feedback?

Could be the Achilles heel of the rollerlock platform...the extractor spring could be toast.
Take the bolt group out, place a live round in the bolthead, then lift it all upwards by the round. The
round will hold fast to the bolt if the spring is good. That or if you can slightly move the extractor with your thumbnail then the extractor spring is likely bad.

    I'll give that a try.

I also noticed before it was spitting the empty casings quite far away... We're talking 10 to 12 feet away and now the casings are only going about 3 to 4 feet away if that.

Thanks I'll update later today after work.

Found the problem with the FTFs. The spring was fine. The extractor on the other hand....

Comparing to my H&K SP5 below

    SIGH..... I'll call PTR Monday.

    Yes extractor

Also my firing pin is bent?

    Is it made that cheap?

I shot about 400 rounds of 115gr and 300 of 147gr. About 200 rounds into the 147 I began to have FTFS every other shot.

Can you not shoot anything over 115gr on this? Or do extractors go bad that easy and firing pins bent that easy too with only 700 rounds total?

What the heck??? Sheered off the extractor lip and bent the firing pin! Man, if that was mine I would look that PTR over really well.... something is out of wack.

I have a PTR I bought in November and have yet to fire. If your case is of normal, I might as well not fire it and sell as NIB. Save the money it takes make it reliable and put that towards the SP5. A German firing pin and extractor is $100.00 on HK Parts.

I've sent an email to PTR about how unhappy I am about this and my concern for the quality of this firearm. We're not talking about a $200 gun. I've never owned a PTR before but I hope their customer service and support are outstanding and they go the extra mile to make things right.

I'll update once I speak to them on Monday.

That bolt face looks like one with many thousands of rounds, not less than a thousand. Not what I would expect from PTR and hope their quality is not deteriorating.
