Default SP5 or Clone for sear host?`

Ya, know but hear me out.

I'm looking for a MP5 pistol (or SBR) that I can run with my sear and/or can. As I see it my choices are:

    1. SP5, local dealer will order one for me for $2400 but he has no idea when it will come. To make it sear ready $1000 (MM) or $300+ for a modified carrier (TSC) and then 922R parts if I go with a SBR.
    2. PTR9 $1550 (on sale) sear and 922R ready out of the box. However, I'm not happy with PTR and they way the failed to handle my mag fitment issues with my PTR93 and I told myself I'd never buy another gun from them. But the price is right, about half of what a SP5 will run me.
    3. Custom build from PSC $2400. He's laid up with a bum thumb and has problems getting parts in. Great rep and and a quality piece that he will stand behind. Same prices as the SP5 but it's sear ready (but it's not a factory HK).

Thoughts? I keep changing my mind and would really like to see how the TSC bolt carrier mod works.

Other alternatives are the MKE/Zenith, POF Omega or some of the other aftermarket single push pin designs. Drop in for a auto carrier, if using a registered auto sear 922 parts are not an issue.

Zenith has a block in the receiver like a UZI to keep you from putting a FA carrier in.

My understanding is the Zenith will require a proper semi shelf added before you can remove the carrier block.

Otherwise you're manufacturing a machine gun.

I would go for the HK SP5, my lessons from painful experience, clones = frustration, time, added cost, and rework (not always for some as has been stated here but for me that has been the case). Metal quality, workmanship (welds, sight alignments, fit), and proper tolerance ranges are important (one reason some builders only work on HK), not to say that HK doesn't screw up occasionally. You will pay more if U go HK you already know that, no way around that.

I can spend the money to get the HK, just seems like a lot of drama to get it sear ready. The HK choice would be much easier if the TSC carrier mod was made public with a price.

Yeah... Not sure why it's still so "elusive".

    Right!
This has been discussed in other threads.

I like my Z-5RS. Got a good price on it with the brace. But wish that I had known HK was going to release the SP5.
My vote is for the HK.
