Default HK53 style clone in 300 Blackout

Does anyone have experience shooting subsonic 300 Blackout ammo through a HK53 style clone? The pistol I built seems to shoot supersonic ammo fine but struggles to cycle with subsonic ammo and I am considering lightning the recoil spring to improve cycling of subsonic ammo.

Chances are you need a different locking peice, the subsonic might not be generating enough energy. Did you put a can on it for the subsonic?

No can (yet, hopefully someday). I think you may be correct with the subsonic not generating as much energy, perhaps it may even be the specific ammo I am using. I do have the RCM 300 Blackout locking piece installed, are their other options?

Dakota Tactical had the D300, TPM had the TPM5300 - both shot sub and supers ... and seen them shoot with cans and work fine. Maybe ping them?

I have a C93P rebarreled in 300BLK and was having the same issues as the OP. Gun would cycle supersonic ammo, but not subs with the RCM 300BLK locking piece.
I ended up using an HK53 recoil rod with a cut down MP5 recoil spring. You have to cut a couple spring coils at a time till you find the sweet spot for your gun.
Mine runs reliably now in full auto with a suppressor.

My original thinking as well was to lighten the recoil spring and I happen to have an extra HK33 spring i can cut down so I think I will give this a try. Thanks.

IMO, Sub's are for suppressed fire. Use a can or forget the subs.
