    Default SP5K: Hollow points

Has anyone successfully used hollow points with their mp5/mp5k guns? Since purchasing my gun, i've only fired FMJ and haven't loaded any hollow points through it. I'm reading that the mp5 was never designed to use hollow points, so that's kind of a bummer to hear. Have you guys had any success using hollow point rounds through this gun and if so, which brand are you using? Right now I have Speer Gold Dot and Federal HST for my VP9. I plan on taking it out to the range this next week to see if I run into any problems.

I put some gold dots through mine without issue... but it was like 15 of em... not mag after mag.

I use 147 gr RangerT hollow points. Subsonic and feeds like a champ in my SP5K.

    Winchester code: RA9T

Here are two targets from my July 4th range day with that ammo:
5 rounds slow fire and a full mag of 30 @ one per second due to range requirements.
25 yards for both targets. Zero malfunctions.

Same as UltraFudd - I put a whole box (50) through the SP5K on bursts and auto and no problems at all feeding it. That ammo is plenty accurate for me, too - as shown in his pictures above. For the record, I was using HK 30rnd curved mags of recent manufacture (the 2 that came with the SP5K). I would stick with factory mags if you want to retain reliability.

Yes, both were fired with the 9K. I find no difference in point of aim or group size switching from suppressed to unsuppressed.

I shoot 147 gr ammo most of the time and find the SP5K eats a mix of Speer Lawman and Remington for practice purposes pretty well, but the Ranger T which is my duty ammo is the most accurate and reliable, with zero malfunctions. It's also lower flash and seems to cycle with a little more oomph than the FMJ practice stuff.

I shot a few Federal Hydra Shox on mine (around 10) and it ran just fine.

I know this is an old thread I started but I just wanted to give an update. I ran 30 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 124 grain hollow points and 30 rounds of Federal HST 124 gr hollow points without a hiccup =)
