Default SP5K Paddle Mag Release: Pros and Cons?

    Hello:

First, thank you all of the other helpful posts about this topic in terms of how to install one etc

I'm wondering, as a newer owner of an SP5K, if folks would be willing to give me their thoughts on the pros and cons of installing one? I'm trying to decide whether this is a worthwhile thing for me to do at all.

    Thanks!

No reason not to install one (other than the parts cost). The reason I sold my HK94 many years ago was because at the time adding a paddle release was an expensive proposition. Now that you can do this for a reasonable cost there is no reason not to install it; it’s worth it just for the sake of doing magazine changes as they are meant to be done on an MP5.

Nailed it. Stupid that it didn't come that way from the factory. Probably some German export law thing.

Agree with everyone above. All pros, no cons. Also needs a proper stock and shorty suppressor. But that's just my opinion :-)

Mag changes are infinitely better with the paddle release. The only con I can think of would be the possible warranty issue, although I believe the HKparts kit is supposed to be reversible?

    Uncle Sam is watching you.
Decades back in my HK-93/91 life, the paddle/lower pin held the FA trigger group/housing. HK welded a block and promptly removed the paddle release. I resorted to aftermarket which regained the original function, but not OEM/close-to as available for the SP5K.
