Sigh - I know it costs more to produce but I was hoping the L version would be like a P30L and look extended and finished to the muzzle, so its an actual long frame gun, not just a Long slide - Walther does it too on their 5" PPQ's and it annoys me there too - its purely cosmetic I know, but that P30L just looks so well finished.

Oh well, I'll pass on it for the time being and devote my funds to a USP45, and a P30SK or VP9SK so I can actually stop carrying my Glock 26.

Funny thing that you mention that. One guy on HK booth told me that they are still not ready to release OR versions becouse engineers back in Oberndorf are still not happy with... screws. They still work to make sure that whatever you put on your slide it stays there.

Some people whine that HK doesn't put things out fast enough -- the same people that whine when something is put out before it's perfect. Some people just like to whine.

    this ^^^^^ 100%.

lets see, rush product out and make the consumer/users your beta test group, and have to do who knows how many recalls. Or test the product to the proper reliability standards then put it out, and do no recalls?

I'm glad to hear they are still working it out as I would assume they would use different sights that wont be obstructed by the optic. Im still waiting for them to release the SP5 or whatever they want to name it, trying to get an HK 94 project build on an actual HK is rather hard or pricey at the moment.

    This. Sorta.
I don't do competition shooting. And I can't really say that I'd try to carry a pistol with an optic on it. But if I could swap my slide and barrel out from a standard length, to the extended length, I'd definitely pick it up.
Now that said...hopefully if HK is FINALLY looking into getting into a competition market, then HOPEFULLY they will FINALLY start producing some Higher Capacity MAGAZINES! OR the aftermarket manufacturers will start getting into the game and take them up. Mec-Gar 20's for the HKs would be FAAAAN...TAS...TIC!

They should have taken more time before deciding to put .40 RSA's into the VP9
    CCT125US and YVK like this.

It’s called Agile Project Management. It means rapid prototyping with multiple iterations released to market (client) to test for bugs as you build to your Beta release.

Funny thing is, it’s a software development focused Project Management approach that people are trying to apply to everything from Manufacturing to Construction. It’s a hell of way to build a telecom network. So much repeated work than the old way at cost the same; took half the work but came in a little later.

It’s like when GE pushed their pioneering 6 Sigma PM process out to the world. It’s purpose was intended for manufacturing (just in time production and inventories) and everyone jumped on it and tried to apply it to whatever they were doing. It’s just not the way you build physical infrastructure IMHO.

I’m just glad HK doesn’t seem to buy any of these approaches.
