+1 on the P30LS or P30S for your stated goals.

A P30 would be a very good "universal" pistol *IF* it fits your wife's hands -- she has to "test-fit" one at your LGS (and try the different-sized grip panels and backstraps if necessary) before you invest.

On the DA/SA vs. LEM: If you can, try both at the LGS. If you think you *might* want the LEM (V1) but aren't sure (or you don't like LEM), go with the DA/SA V3 -- as I recall, you can convert a DA/SA V3 to LEM V1 while retaining the decocker, but you can't convert a V1 to a V3 because the V1 doesn't have the cut out for the V3 decocker. (My P30LS V3 is currently a V1 LEM with safety and decocker.)

One additional thought on the LEM: depending on her hand strength, your wife might find LEM attractive because it eliminates a long, hard DA pull on the first shot.

I would love to buy MR556's for everyone but the wife would kill me with one of them.
I see where you are going with this now and absolutely the P30 series is an excellent choice for your intended purposes! Great and very cool idea.

Any other info I should know?
    Thanks!
I truly believe the average person can't afford or will not shoot enough to wear out any Hk.

I know that I probably won't wear it out but maybe my kids will have the chance too. If the lefties don't get their way.

That may be an initial consideration, but let's face facts. Sooner or later, he's going to buy more HKs.

I have other HK's....it's a sickness....this is just the one that everyone will eventually get trained on and will shoot wehn we go shooting.

They can shoot the rest of them if they want also.
