As a newbie, I was pondering this same question on my used USP9 non-metal magazines. They seem very durable. Not sure if it's ok to keep them loaded for an extended time.

I have to think the new style with polymer over metal would be very durable.

I have not seen those. The glock mags are very good.

I've put my jet funnel mags through hell. Dropped them on the pavement loaded and unloaded. Stepped on them during range sessions. I even ran one over once. Still working after 10,000+ rounds. I always thought some day the front notch that rests against the mag release would wear down and the mag would no longer stay in the gun. That day hasn't come yet.

I collect LEO mags. You know, the ones that say that these mags were for LEO ONLY and are dated 10-94 (not saying that was when they were made) but I keep all my mags loaded. ALL the time. I mean, whtat's the point of an empty mag?

The only time they are emptied is two occasions.

At the range when I'm shooting. BEFORE going to the range, I sometimes empty the mags and reload with Winchester White Box ammo - my normal range ammo. But I generally only do that when I'm testing a new firearm.

I have a BUNCH of the LEO mags. Never had a lick of problems. At least not yet.
