I would love to find some 'HK Gold' for filling proof marks back in after refinishing a pistol. Try and keep the factory look somewhat.

just a tad cheaper on amazon (no surprise, amazon tries to lowball other retailers). Tho I don't see the gold on there, that Brownells had.

Brownells doesnt have gold. I was opining wishing someone did- although it would need to be gold pain not laquer to look correct

    Heya Crang!
    Ahhhh ok, I gotcha.
Here is some stuff that I used a couple of times, waaaaaaaaaay back in the day. It's basically a compound that you mix together, and it kinda forms a "mud" for lack of a better term, that you press into the markings that you want to fill. It's kinda messy, and takes some work tho.

You might be able to find it cheaper, I didn't really look around. And again, you can remove it by scraping it out with a toothpick.

Another trick that I have used, is to use a copper or gold colored crayon, and grind the color into the markings. Also removable with a toothpick. [Edit] Hmmmm. Just thought of something. I wonder about melting the crayon, then applying it into the markings with an eyedropper, and wiping away the excess as it cools. Hmmmmm. [/edit]

Or are you talking about the laser etched markings? If so there was a thread around here recently of a guy that was offering that.

That Forester stuff looks interesting. May have to experiment with it- thanks.

Yes- the etched? proof marks like the stag horn and serial number always seem to have that gold look. Been trying to figure out how to recreate it. Didnt realize someone else was already on it.
