Default Damaged slide and barrel on usp45 tactical. sad day

I feel its always good to share both good and bad purchases because they cant all be good. This one sucked for me. I found local to me a usp45 tactical in taupe (a dream gun for me) last weekend. Had everything that they originally come with, down to the original sticker that would go on the box. I was pumped. took it to the range and it shot flawlessly. However when I broke it down for a cleaning i noticed the unusual wear on the barrel hood and slide. You will see where it looks like the bevel on the slide was not machined smoothly during production and has corresponding notches on the barrel hood where it locks up and has worn the barrel (in my opinion). I sent it to HK on monday for inspection however their opinion was that someone intentionally drill into the slide and barrel and wanted me to buy a new barrel/slide to the tune of $650. So its been a crappy day. I hope this makes some of you feel better about any unfortunate purchases you've made in the past LOL. Sad that this happened on such a nice gun

Nice gun by the way. I had the tan framed USP 40 Custom Combat and sold it a few years ago like an idiot. Been regretting it ever since 😢

If it's shooting flawlessly I don't think I'd be too concerned with it unless your plan was to flip it for profit.

Rare and beautiful pistol, enjoy it!

Not sure, the armorers notes were something along the line that he believed it had been intentionally modified in that way. Didnt make sense to me but Im not the expert. This was all told to me over the phone so I do not have the exact wording.

And no plan to flip to the gun. Not after how long ive been scouring for one, especially one that has all the original paperwork, etc.

Never owned a drill that drilled like a chisel chisels.
Can you stone off the displaced metal where those high spots impinge on mating surfaces, and do it without changing angles or removing metal that belongs where it still remains?

My opinion's as worthy as one from any other doddering old grampa you have never met or heard of.

If it shoots well, then don’t sweat it. Looks like to me somebody probably locked the gun up somehow with a squib or oversized reload and pried it open with a screw driver.
