    Why are 40SW prices dropping?

Seems like a perception that 40 is out of favor. Dealers don't want to sit on inventory.
It's a way to clear out shelf space for the newest and latest whatever the market is turning towards.

+1 It's all about the numbers. Tons of two finger subcompacts are being sold daily. Some people buy their guns according to what's popular with Federal or other LEO's.

I'm enjoying the prices on 40 S&W guns and ammo. I'm not a one caliber guy.

Getting hard to find. I have plenty of 9s but have recently gotten on a 40 kick. VP40 might be the ticket.

The simple answer is, because the FBI switched from 40 S&W to 9mm.

At least for the USP 40, which the pistol was designed for, HK has always had a large push to sell the USP 40's to LE departments at a good discount. It all began back in the mid 1990's and has not slowed down much. The thing is, all those twenty year old LEO USP's have been hitting the market for a while now. You can get a lightly used USP in 40 for around $400.

I don't do striker fired any more after I sold all the Glocks for HKs. Some say the 40 has been set aside now that 9mm approaches it in bullet weight. But would you rather have a 9mm hole or a 10mm hole?

It's just one extra mm. Make mine 40 thank you very much

I just ordered the P30 40 S&W V3 a few minutes ago. I'll get the VP40 when I find one. Need extra mags now.

Though I am not what you’d call a .40 S&W fan boy, I decided to pull the trigger on a very reasonably priced VP40 & truly enjoy both the pistol & the round. I also diversified by picking up an RCM .357 barrel & like the .40 S&W, it is certainly a hoot in the VP!

I was considering buying a RCM barrel for a VP40...
Just hesitant about putting non-OEM parts in my hk...

I can appreciate that & especially as concerns warranty issues. That said, in addition to the VP40, I also run an RCM .357 barrel in a Steyr L40-A1 & both pistols have run like scalded dogs, with absolutely zero issues.
