    Default Hk p2020?

    Hi all,

I'm a big P2000 fan, but seeing how 2020 is close upon us, I do think it is time for a little refresh for my favorite pistol.

I'd like to see a gen 2, maybe name it the P2020.

The dimensions are perfect for me with the flat floorplates. No change there.

I'd like to see a revised grip pattern, no finger grooves but more texture on the sides and go high up on the grip (i.e. fn 509), and change the branding on the grip to something smaller and more discreet, a small P2020 script.

give it longer mag release levers stock, and a captive take down lever/slide stop/release like the P30

tweak the back strap design, hammer spring on frame, and make it more flush with the grip, the current P2000 back straps have gap lines, an HK should have tighter tolerances for a back strap.

front serrations on the slide, and a from the factory light V1 LEM, would save work for a lot of us who convert springs in the V2.

i'd like a slide profile exactly like the USP line, and keep enogh metal on the slide so it can be milled deeper for optics.

lastly and least important, maybe tweak the follower design to put at least 1 more round of 9mm in the flush magazine.

    What does everyone think?

    more suggestions?

Not gonna happen. I'm fond of HK Pistols as is, but I do agree it would be nice to update old models, especially the USP's with a usable rail interface, similar to what Glock did to their initial design.

My understanding is that, as far as HK is concerned, the update to the P2000 was the P3000. Renamed to the P30.
sabre675, TLOU_Joel and PorterM like this.
    Own: HK91, SR9, SP5k, G36k, HK416, P30L, P8, 2x P8A1, USP9
Future: Done, until HK comes out with something new & nifty. Might start building an FNH collection.

As far as the poll, I choose neither. I believe that the P2000 is what it is.
If HK updates the older models, all I can see being changed is the rail. If all the hk pistol production lineup had pic rails, would more agencies/military consider the older models? Another update would be to have ambi slide levers for the USP.

I believe a updated P2000 would look like a HK45C, only in 9 and 40. So, why would they not simply make a HK40/HK40C and HK9/HK9C (as opposed to updating the P2000)?

    There's the P30 9 and P30 .40, so I don't see an updated P2000.

    I'd like to see a P2000sk45, a P30sk .40, a P30sk45, a HK45SK, maybe a USP9/40/45SK.

    Hope I stayed on topic.

I agree with a lot of the replies, seeing an actual mil-std 1913 rail on a P2000 refresh, is a great idea.

I wouldn't mind stretching the barrel length and frame to something closer to 4 inches, 4, 3.8 or 3.75.

with HK slowly making progress in their consumer divison, I think with a good marketing campaign, a refreshed P2000 would be key.

A glock 19 sized HK, is the most important category in the consumer market, beside sub-compacts, like the shield and p365, which HK does not make.

VP9/P30, I don't see how they can reduce the grip length without comprimising the finger groove size, needs to be grooveless a la the P2000 or USP Compact

I agree. I do not see this happening.
