Default how to get an extended mag release on a USP?

Can someone please remind me, the extended mag release on the USP series is actually a HK45C mag release - is that correct? @TooSixy

    From hkparts
"The most popular upgrade available for your HK pistol. By adding the HK45C extended mag release will provide more than double the contact, surface area to aid in faster, more reliable mag releases. The larger mag release makes it possible to release the magazine without changing the position of your grip"

Yes sir. 234270. But there is the mag drop issue with the polymer mags on the full size USP, USPc good to go. (But you knew that already).

Is the verdict out on those using polymer mags on USPs? I’ve read here that some 9/40 guys had intermittent problems when switching to the HK45C release.

Well documented, the release can/will chew into the polymer mag eroding it to the point of an unintentional/undesired drop. I personally wouldn’t use it on a USP simply for the what if/can/will possibility factor but to each their own. That said, I have them on all my USPc’s, P2000 and P2000SK and love it, no issues. YMMV.

@HK12Step I also have this on all my Compacts but in this case was going to install on a USP9 fs. I've heard about the issue a bunch, but I want to see for myself how much "chewing" this does, so I'm going to test it out on a single poly mag and see how much damage each 10 mag releases/ejections causes to the polymer. I'll post pics. I'll be curious to see how much of an issue this is and how long it takes to manifest.
