From my experience, with many HK4s coming across my workbench for service and repair, I have found that shooting .380 is not recommended. The aluminum receiver is just not strong enough for it, especially with old worn buffers. If you have the .22 kit, I would recommend swapping it in and just using that.

Yeah, it's a really nice one too.
I could just put the 22lr kit in and be done.
How easy is it, to swap out the extractor?
    It is a complete kit.
With barrel, magazine, extractor, pamphlet, tool, inner tool and box.

HK provided two different extractors for the HK4, a universal (multi caliber) and one specifically marked for the .22. Obviously, if you have the .22 variant, you want to swap it in. The rest of the conversion involves removing the screw that holds the breach plate in place and flipping the breach face around to the rimfire side. Then before replacing the breach face and screw, you need to reposition the firing pin to the top position, so that it will act as rimfire instead of centerfire. Be sure to check its proper placement in the breach face before securing the screw.

If you ever need service support, give me a shout. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one qualified who still offers support on those.
