    Should be odd additives.

I just took delivery of a NIB Expert in .45 ACP. Inside the box and inside the handgun there was grit. It wasn’t sand nor dirt. I’m not really sure what it was.

I’ve cleaned it all up, and hope to take it to the range this weekend.

    That definitely looks like sand.

It’s not any sand that I have seen. The particles are uneven, and are relatively easy to crush. It’s odd. I’ve bought a lot of firearms off the web. This one is a first.

You should talk to hk csr, and have them have you send them those pictures. If it happened at one of their facilities they'll be able to ID that debris, and try to make sure it doesn't happen again.
    Especially not INSIDE a gun!
I wish I could blow up the pics from my phone, so I could get a better look at them.

It looks very similar to the ground up sea shells we find on some of the beaches around St. Augustine.

I had planned to send the pictures to the FFL that sold the Expert to me. I could send the photos to HK also. I will add that the case was a little roughed up also.

Looks like corn grist/corn meal, common filler for hand loads.
