    Default USP light for today

I know that the TLR3/4 is the easy solution for putting alight on an USP if we don't use the Insight UTL, but the TLR3 is an ugly little light on such a big pistol, and it's output is akin to a birthday candle compared to today's offerings.

So I'm searching for a modern solution and have a thought.

I have a TLR7 with 500 lumens output and it mounts to the rail with no issues if there is no rail key installed, but there is nothing to stop it from sliding under recoil.

When I look at the threaded side of the mounting block, it is very similar to the TLR3 USP adapter except for the basic shape of it. I'm considering buying the TLR adapter and seeing if I can fit it to the TLR7, or buying a separate threaded piece to mock up a machined replacement that will index the USP rail in the same way that the TLR3 does.

Is the TLR3 screw proud of the contact surface?

Has this path already been travelled to the fountain of futility?

My thought is if there are enough potential buyers, perhaps streamlight to update the TLR7 so that it can interface with the USP as they did the TLR3.

    Thoughts?

Future: Done, until HK comes out with something new & nifty. Might start building an FNH collection.

It just puts the light control at the bottom of the trigger guard. Ggg used to make one with one slot that I considered.

Also, it's an extra step and extra screw to back out

Locktite. A light today that is slightly out of place is better than wishing on a light to come out next year. Might meet bad guys tomorrow.

PL Mini 2 is awesome. Super bright. Best recharge setup. Just remove the 1913 bar and adjust screw and bam it clicks on. It won’t go anywhere.

I use the GGG single slot adapter. Works well with the TLR but puts the switch WAY out in front, requiring a significant moving of your support hand to activate. Not a deal breaker but inconvenient.

I'd sooner put US made airsoft parts on one of my firearms than most Chinese stuff. Then again, I'm superstitious and collect German space magic, so .. there is that.

OTOH, I do have a Lumens Factory LED upgrade (chinese) in my Surefire G36 handguard, and it works quite well.

Tony keeps costing me money. Now that I know the Insight M2 UTL has an LED upgrade available.. I'm looking around at them.
But I'm going to need quite a few! I suppose I'll need one for the bedside standard USP as well.
