Default Do non-collector-grade colored frame USPs command a premium?

Random question: I know the USPs with the limited edition colored frames from the 2000s usually sell at a premium, but all those examples I've seen were lovingly cared for. What if they're in USED condition? Guy I know has been trying to sell a full-size USP 40 in olive green for a while with no takers. Overall condition is a rough. Lots of holster wear.

At that point, it’s a shooter. Premium, only to the guy who wants a shooter with a green frame, but not because it’s rare-ish green.

The only colored frame pistols I've seen command a premium are the taupe usp45 tactical, taupe mark 23, and od green usp45 tactical. The rest dont, especially if ragged out. The colored frame 40s are down in the dumps because very few people are into 40 right now. usp40 across the board is pretty cheap. my local dealer sells their pd trade ins for $300-$350.

I believe prices have come down from where they were 5 years ago. I've seen several colored frames selling for about $800, used much will decrease the value too. Years ago you wouldn't see less than $1000.

I don't think they bring a premium. Your example being a 40 does not help it as that caliber is really out of favor now. In my area there are a lot of used USP 40s and no 9mm.

Just out of curiosity, what is your friend asking for it?

I'll disagree a bit on the .40's. I've had several people contact me to buy my Custom Combat Taupe in .40. The last one I sold went for a 1,150.00. The standards and the compact .40's don't sell as good as the Custom Combats in very good condition.

I had a tough time getting rid of a Taupe Custom Combat in .45. I finally sold it for 700.00. They seem to go for the 7-800.00 range. The Tactical 45 and the Custom Combat .40 seem to fetch the same prices from what I've seen. The Mark23 is in a different bracket.

If that’s it, then at least the guy isn’t being unrealistic. Seems hard to move most things in .40 even at rock-bottom prices these days, though.

That's not an original AE colored frame. It's been coated.
