Default Increasing P30SK/VP9SK mag capacity - Mod found

For kicks, I took apart a 12rd Sig P365 mag and put the guts into a P30SK/VP9SK 10rd mag and was able to load 12rds into it. I took it to the range and put about 40 RDS thought it with no issues and the slide locked back every time. I wasn't able to use the HK follower because of the narrow 365 spring but I bet you could do some filing and make it work if you wanted to. Anyway, not sure I'd trust my life to it but there's potential if HK would learn from the 365.

Maybe I'm missing something here, is there something wrong with the 13 round mags?

Concealability? 10 round are flush fit, though I like the extra grip of the 13 round.

I don’t think any manufacturer has spring technology that is vastly different from other manufacturers. I think when it comes to magazines you have a teeter totter effect regarding capacity vs reliability/longevity. I don’t believe HK has much to learn from Sig (I do like Sig). I think higher magazine capacities have a lot to do with marketing. HK probably prefers to lean towards reliability/longevity. Now if you get the extra capacity by lengthening the magazine, that’s a different story.

Got it, he's wondering why they don't cram more into a small space. As HK Carson mentioned, I think their first priority is reliability/longevity. HK mags are some of the best around, if not the best.

Agreed. Not unlike stuffing extra 9mm into a USPc 40 mag. Range toy only.

I know they did file some patents but basically the spring is short and the follower is thin, along with the internal width being wider so the rounds stagger more tightly but then come to a vertical column to aid feed reliability.

I think I read the 365 was designed around the magazine.

I'm guessing HK made the magazine to work reliably with the pistol they had already designed.

I think the idea has been around at least since the Suomi, but getting the tightly staggered rounds to feed into a column is the challenge. Hence everyone carried the drums instead of the short 50 round stick mags.

The P30 was designed as a service pistol. No reason it wouldn't have a similar mag design to say a P series sig, or any other for that matter. No reason to get crazy.
