    It is standard feature of modern HKs. Looser back portion promotes easier feeding and extraction. Tighter front portion allows good pressure seal and better accuracy. In this rare instance you have good results of having tight chamber and loose chamber, without having bad results (usually it works opposite way ;) ).

    HK has always been pretty innovative. Were they the first company to use the fluted chamber in the squeeze cocker pistols?

    Fluted chamber is very old invention. Look at Fiat-Revelli M1935 for example.

    Thanks, the brass sure seems clean (compared to the other extreme of a fluted chamber).
