Default P9S .45 ACP SACO Import Question

I purchased a P9S in .45acp from a guy I have dealt with a few times now and I took his word on condition, etc. So, I made the purchase “sight unseen”.

I got this in through my dealer today and noticed it is marked as a Saco import. I know that some advertise “rare” on Hk91’s when they are Saco imports. I have never seen a Saco import on a P9S though. Is this rare?

Nice shooter, as far a RARE there were lots of SACO .45 Combats imported. Change the buffer if you plan on shooting it. Since it is not NIB, I would shoot it now and then and enjoy it. No hot ammo or +P.

A very nice and early sample!!!
SACO was the primary importer for the P9S (.45 ACP) in 1977-1979, followed by HK/Arlington in 1979-1983, followed by HK/Chantilly in 1983-1985 (various, private importers after 1985).
Did it come with the manual, warranty card, and test target?

    Tony,

It came with the manual and warranty card. No test target though.

I was told that it was new in box and unfired by the original and only other previous owner.

Agreed! I would keep the gun unfired. Knowing me I would probably replace the buffer.

Removing the slide and grips and looking at the internals will help tell the tale of whether or not it is original. I have customers send me their "unfired" pistols all the time for a thorough going through and when the pistol is completely disassembled and all those areas you can't reach with a q-tip become visible, they are often not happy with what they find. Hope that is not the case for you.
Make sure to replace the recoil buffer before shooting. If its unfired, then the buffer is surely in need of replacement after that many decades. Don't shoot high pressure, reloaded or crap ammo. In other words, put quality, factory ammo in the pistol. And then enjoy.
If you ever need support, give me a shout. I service all HKs, but the legacy guns are kind go my thing.

I don't know, but was hoping SACO imports were incredibly rare and valuable;-)

Not rare, but uncommon and under appreciated. .45 is not as common as the 9mm.
