    Default First 1000?

Pardon my naiveness, but I understand the correlation (and non-correlation) of serials to date codes for a few manufacturers but had a question about my new-to-me USP 45.

Was lucky enough to pick up a KF with a serial prefix of 25 which I know is correct, and numbering in the low 900s. Does that mean it was one of the first 1000 made? first 1000 imported to US? None of the above?

It's in perfect shape, in box, etc., and regardless of whether it's the first 1000 or last 1000 I intend to proudly keep and use it. Just really curious though, and i knew someone here could fill me in.

    And Happy Holidays!

That does in fact mean that it was one of the first 1000 made by HK. Nice acquisition!

Thanks for confirming it. I'll make sure to give it a good home - and use it. Here's my crazy follow-up - anyone have a rough idea of how many have been made?

121 prefix is the P2000SK 9mm. The list above is an older, not complete list; here is a better one from the Reference Library.

Thanks buddy, haven’t had my coffee yet, should’ve checked the reference section. I made the mistake of assuming HKWorld was up to date.

In 2004 serial numbers were right around 99,500-101,000 for the color frames. so probably around 200K by now?
