I had one. It's a very cool gun, and it's not as horrendous as people make it out to be, but it doesn't bring any real pluses to the table. Good collectible, bad shooter.
No man, it really is that bad. But hey, it's part of the HK enthusiast experience to own one, at least once. That way you can bitch about it later when someone asks.it's not as horrendous as people make it out to be
The only reason that I can envision to willingly expend funds to obtain a VP70Z would be to have a aesthetic and operational period car gun match for a Trabant.
From a mechanical perspective it's not only interesting for its polymer frame history, but also for the fact that it's a straight blow-back pistol in 9MM. The barrel grooves are cut extra deep to bleed off gas, reducing pressure.
...and the trigger is amazingly horrible, like bag of smashed Aholes, soup sandwich, must be experienced to be believed bad.
There. I gave you 2 perfectly valid reasons to own one.
Nice video, thanks
Might as well throw in my 2 cents worth opinion. If you want it for collecting and conversation, buy it. Sounds like a good price considering the condition. If you want to buy it to use as a shooter, forget it. I've got one. Don't want to sell it, don't take it to the range and I'm happy
Buy it. Every HK collection should have one. I shot mine a few times for fun. I LOVE owning it. Detract all you want, but it a good firearm with a neat history. If it is a money issue, get rid of some other safe queen and add to the HK stable. HK, the best addition.
