Default What do I have here?

So AGG has been helping me identify exactly what this pistol is. I picked it up about 9 years ago. I’ve shot it a bit. Now I let it sit in my safe. We have so far identified that the it is a correct serial for a factory tan, USP40FS. The question is whether it is a custom combat or not. It came with no paperwork and no grip decals. We are thinking it is a regular USP with custom combat correct accessories added. I would like to hear other opinions as I’m really interested to finally figure this out. There is a glare on the jet funnel, it is not worn. Thanks for the help!

My understanding is that the colored framed Custom Combats were made from unsold regular, colored framed USPs.
This was because initially the colored framed models didn't sell well.
Maybe yours just got a partiel Custom Combat treatment.

I had a Tan Custom Combat USP40, looked exactly like that one. And my grip decals actually snagged and peeled off despite having low round count. I had to replace them, may be the same deal here?

As we discussed, everything appears correct for a Custom Combat (NOVAK sights--- green insert is correct for this SN range--- and jet funnel kit)!!!
Maybe @HK CS1 can research and comment.

I did not realize that the textured grip panels were that easy to remove!!!
Trending toward a Custom Combat, with panels lacking.

I believe that was the mark HK used while they were associated with Gun South Inc.

Like the others have stated, it is a custom combat. I have one identical with Novak sites, AE date code, jet funnel, .40 caliber. Only difference is the factory black grips are still on mine. Great gun to shoot, and I really like the Novak fiber optic sites.

Forgot to add, mine came with the same HK brown toting bag. Purchased mine several years ago, but I thought that the brown carry bag was aftermarket and not factory, but mine is identical to yours. Crazy!!

I have seen both--- black plastic (labeled "CUSTOM COMBT") and tan soft cases!!!
