    Default SP5 Diopter Drum

Just got the call from my LGS that my SP5 finally arrived!

Was wondering if someone could give me some guidance on which rear diopter drum to get from
HK parts. There are a few options and I just want to make sure I get the correct one with the right hardware.

    Thanks!

Same boat - following. Mike Otte is doing some work on a trigger pack and an F stock for me, I will ask him when we speak and post his advice.

I have been on the hunt for a factory Hk drum. I see that Hkparts has an american made one but I try to order from them as little as possible.

Nothing wrong with the US made drum from HK Parts.

This is probably a stupid question, but whats wrong with the stock drum? Is it not the same as the original MP5 drum or something?

SP5s currently come with an open castle sight (intended for K models/pistol variants, not full size MP5) that make target acquisition for some more difficult than the closed drum design. I heard this was due to this being brought in as a pistol to the US though it seems like it is the #1 thing (besides a stock) that people change when they get them.

Personally I love the MP5 diopter sights and do not like the K sights but they are somewhat difficult to find if seeking a true factory german. I have a nice cond. albeit smaller-bent factory one from gatewood supply I am debating selling.

It is not the traditional diopter. SP5 ships with a open-top castle style drum, presumably because most pistols are held at arms length.
