Default Thumb safety on the HK VP9

Has anyone here any experience with the thumb safety on the HK VP9?

I love (unlike a lot of other people) a thumb safety on a handgun. Besides the safety aspect, I also use the thumb safety on my P30LS as a leverage-point with my two handed*grip,*getting more purchase on the gun by*having the shooting hand thumb pressing down on the lever.*

However, I'm unsure if an added thumb safety on the VP9L will give me the same grip configuration as I love on my HK P30LS. Any thoughts?*

Though the option was incorporated into the VP9 design, I do not believe that any variants of a "S model" have been imported into the US.

That's actually one of the main reasons why I went with the P30SK over the VP9-like model.
