I stop by my local gun shop just by chance they have 3 mark 23 pistols 2 of them are date coded CA for twenny twenny and they have one that I think was BK or BA. Is there any upside the buying the older pistol?
BA, BK are not older date codes. The ones worth buying are the KG, KH if you’re looking for a more valuable older date code. They have the maritime finish. That retail price seems pretty high though.
Wow! You're LGS is super special if they have 3 Mark 23's just sitting around. Never saw that before. Work on the price with them...offer 2K cash and take home a CA model.
If you have the means attempt to grab one, but I wouldn't pay more than 1900 out the door. Your next step will be finding a Knights suppressor if you want to keep things in order. That will set you back around 1300, maybe even more in this current time.
I seriously doubt you can talk them down from 2295 to 1900. You'd be hard pressed to find a new one online int here times for 1900. Beginning of the year that would have been possible.
+1 for the KAC MK23 suppressor! Shopping for one myself. Prices are around that $1310 mark for sites that have them in stock + that tax stamp and FFL transfer
Yeah, kind of a bad time to be purchasing firearms or ammunition. Sellers market. OTOH, most people won't be looking for a $2000 pistol for self defense and to protect private property right now. Make them an offer, you never know til you ask.
I have the maritime finish KH coded and Mark 23 marksing vs. MARK 23 . The barrel hood finish will rub off after your first mag but the metal is treated below the black finish and retains it's anti-corrosion protection so I didnt really care that much. You can find replacement barrels from time to time if you want to retain the original spec'd barrel finish and run the second as your primary. A pal did that with his. Gordon gets them every once in a while at HK Specialist.
oh crap! what a great idea! I was like man after my first mag I noticed this. And I did contemplate making it a safe queen, but for me the Mark 23 was a long time bucket list and I aint going to die without shooting the hell out of it anytime I can. The first mag with it was an amazing experience. Such an amazing pistol and shot right out of the box. I love spending 100 rounds with it and then picking up my USPc 9 and it's like light as a feather LOL
I just handled one brand new at a gun shop I found. They only had one Mk23. $1,999.00. I should have bought it but...... it’s so dang big!!!!! I know, I know. But crap. It’s the only HK model I don’t feel comfortable with when holding, manipulating it.

That was not a bad price, but for a little more you can snag a better date code possible a Maritime finish. Just saying.
As for size, you would be surprised at the balance of the entire fire arm.
My wife hates my 1911’s and will not shoot them at all, but she will snatch up my MARK 23 and go to town with it.
She also has smaller hands... which I find is the perfect size for me to hold! LOL!

For me it was the most perfect shot pistol right out of the box experience. It's an unbelievable experience. People knock it all the time due to its size and price, but like they say don't know it until you try it
