All the same ammo?
Hi collective brain,
I'm having a very strange problem with my brand new 2020 VP9 OR: it is very accurate for the first 5-8 shots, but accuracy then goes to hell unless I let it cool down between magazines.
By accurate, I mean hitting within a couple of inches of aim point at 10yards. And after it goes bad, it goes to 6-10" in any direction but above point of aim. To eliminate shooter effects, I've also had an instructor at the range shoot a few mags through it and by the 2nd mag some of his shots missed the target entirely. None of us understand what is going on.
I've done plenty of dry firing with this VP9 and this doesn't happen dry firing, or firing slowly enough that the gun doesn't get hot. Gun has had over 500 rounds through it at this point.
The slide does have some play up/down on the front end (about 1/8" up/down when I push on the barrel end), no movement whatsoever on the back end. Not sure if that is a VP9 thing, none of the other handguns I've used seem to have any meaningful play on the slide.
Anybody have any suggestions? Or is this a "contact HK customer support" thing?

Call and set up a RMA. I would like to get your pistol in and have it inspected.

I’ve brought three VP9’s into my rotation in the past month, none has any slide to frame play of any kind, and all hold 1.5” groups off a rest at 25M no matter what the temperature.
Clearly, HK will take care of you.
My VP9 usually shoots 1in MOA group no matter the distance..and even better with the long slide. HK will fix your issue.
I'm very curious. 1/8" of play sounds like a LOT to me.
I'm surprised you are getting accurate results until the gun is warmed up. I'd take up the offer to send it in.
Please revisit this after you get the gun back and let us know what happened.
