Default New HK SP5 in the stable

So I finally got my hands on a SP5. Paid a little more than I wanted though I did want one without the markings on the lower as they are starting to do the serial number there and it looks funny to me. Fit and finish is excellent as is build quality as one would expect. Feels amazing to actually have one of these in hand!

Couple questions for the well seasoned SP5 owners though.
1). I know HK slapping the bolt home is okay for it, though is it okay to do occasionally even without ammo in the gun?
2). It says to insert a magazine with the bolt locked back though I was playing around with it wiping it down after bringing it home from the FFL and I put the mag in and out a few times with the bolt forward. I didnít slam it in just gave it a little shove and it clicked right in. Will this hurt anything if the bolt is forward?

    Thanks for your responses.

Hereís a pic of my new precious!

    1. I think its okay.. Ibe been slapping the **** out of mine daily while empty for years.

    2. Should be fine. I've been popping mags in & out of them for years without issue.

Congratulation. Now, buy extra HK mags, and put some rounds through it.

    Slap it...itís fine.

Lock the bolt back before you insert fully loaded mags. 30 rds of 9mm puts a lot of upward pressure on the bottom of the bolt carrier. By locking it to the rear, youíll be able to lock the loaded mag into place and save yourself some embarrassment from the mag falling out because it didnít catch.

Thanks guys I’m still pinching myself that I own one of these. Took a long time and some sacrifices though it was well worth it to have the real deal! I figured I couldn’t be hurting anything doing what I did as I wasn’t abusing it and let’s be honest it’s basically a civilian MP5 so it should be pretty flippin’ robust right?!

I think I can understand why they don’t want you slamming in loaded mags with the bolt forward as the feed lips could get marred, but using just a little force with empty ones even with the bolt forward seemed to be fine as no damage was seen on the mags after so I’ll try and just enjoy it and stop overthinking it like I always do.

Don't baby that thing. Each scratch and rub just adds character.
