There was a thread on this a few months ago: https://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-heads...it-extras.html

The 13e kit is uber rare and one sold for just under $20k. The BPP barrels go for about $1k apiece and HK barrels go for around $5k or more IIRC, so there's ~$25k worth of barrel included. RR 21e's are around $45k. @HkCHUCK priced it all out and came up with $105k.

Wow, I would have never figured. He would have more luck breaking it up.

That's interesting to me. Why would a RR 21E go for $45k? For that price, you could buy a sear (possibly in a host gun) and an MM21E or BPP21, and maybe still have money left over. I'm not saying it's undesirable, but I don't see why anyone would be willing to plunk down that much for a one-trick pony, unless you are a hardcore collector with more money than brains and this fills in some weird fetish niche you have. But then again, I would say the same for spending $20k for a 13E conversion kit, when you buy a full host gun for $3-4k.

I guess I'm just a shooter and not really a collector at heart.

I see the serial number plainly visible on the top rib and the gun is/was a registered receiver G3; therefore the serial number was originally on the magwell. I take it ATF has blessed removing the serial number on these conversions and relocating to anywhere you want to put it, or did I hit on a verboten subject...?

Agree this would sell faster broken up.

A correct conversion does not remove the serial number. Only the portion of the magwell with the serial number on it
is kept and the unneeded portion is removed leaving a small rectangle attached to the receiver which is folded in such a way
as to leave the serial number facing outward. The ends of the folded rectangle are then tac welded to the receiver. It is my
understanding that cutting the serial number out and then welding it is not approved by the ATF.

My 21E/23E was made from a RRMG push pin G3 and a 21E/23E parts set. A couple years ago I believe Mike Otte would
have an all German Hk21E RRMG up for sale at $48k. Seems to me had one every year for a couple years.
I don't think he has had one up since then but I could be mistaken. This did not include the 23E conversion kit.

I thought so too about the folded metal which must be a bitch by itself to cut, fold, fold, fold, tack weld to a location just above the feed mechanism cutout. Perhaps my eyes are getting bad and I just can't see that 'fold-work' when I zoomed in on area in this auction. Perhaps someone was so good at folding metal the SerNo was perfectly aligned up and significantly aft to the top of the rib without any noticeable sheet metal 'stackup'. Nice Ulm Proof Mark too just aft of the SerNo...

    Well, it’s got to be some good $ hit, right? I mean they are a mile high <img src="https://www.hkpro.com/forum/smilies/300000000.gif" border="0" alt="" title="300000000" class="inlineimg" />
