That’s the early adopter’s fault for jumping immediately upon release.

Now if only they'd lower the price of their 416 barrels I'd be doubly shafted.

Then you won't love Brownells. On a hunch, I asked customer service - if the order was placed in the last 14 days, you can get the difference refunded.

Two weeks ago I returned a NIB Surefire flash hider. They refunded me the full $150 price I paid when I purchased it... six years ago.

Yeah, 'cause that's how the world works. Name a single in-demand product that is priced low on release, to have it's price raised later when demand is reduced. Yeah, there aren't any.

Being an early adopter is always more expensive. Why are you blaming Brownells for your mistake?

Actually, this happens in the world of pharmaceuticals frequently. It occurs after a generic comes to market and the original manufacturer raises the prices of the branded version to maximize revenue from anyone who purchases it, but I digress.

This item isn't some regular off-the-shelf piece of metal that will be a staple of the Brownell's catalog for decades to come. It was billed as (and priced as) something special and exclusive.
Lowering the price on something like this is a bit of a slap in the face to everyone who bought one already, for two reasons. One, they directly lose whatever funds they paid over and above the current price and two, the value of what they previously purchased is immediately reduced.

Is Brownell's perfectly fine doing whatever they want, whenever they want with the pricing of their merchandise?

    Absolutely.

Is it an annoyance to those who made "the mistake" of supporting the product early on at full price? Well, I can only speak for myself, but yeah, I get annoyed when I lose money.

    Go figure.
