Yeah, I saw that thing last night. Kinda neat for the grey room provenance. But I sure wouldn't want to pay a premium for a butt-ugly gun like that.

I suspect the reason it got kicked out of the grey room to begin with is because it just looks asinine and clashes with the rest of the stuff in the room. The thumbhole travesty was bad enough. Faux wood paint?

    Thankfully the 90s are over.

Future: Done, until HK comes out with something new & nifty. Might start building an FNH collection.

Looks like the beginnings of the SR9 series when they were coming in with that thing hole stuff.

That date code and serial number squarely place it within the HK91 range--- probably a prototype for the production series!!!

Although a bit strange since the story on the 911's is, they were guns already in country but not yet cleared by Customs when the ban hit. Shouldn't all of the 911's have been serial number prefix guns, not an "A" serial number? There wouldn't be a "prototype" unless it was a 91 still in Germany, and they used that for first fitting the new stock set. That explanation is a bit weak because I believe the new stock sets were made in the US and probably delivered to HK USA since the guns were in the US. Perhaps a prototype stock was first sent to HK Germany, placed on an older 91, then that gun was imported separately from all the other 911's? I actually wonder if this wasn't an issue of, HK didn't have a 911 example for their Gray Room, so they took an older 91 and added black stock set and added the extra "1" to the model number?

Lastly, seller has a very suspect reputation...proceed with a very high caution. However, that doesn't mean this gun isn't legit.

Don't bid....it's a fraud. If you do bid, bid low <will it to me>

    It's ugly.....<buy it for Brad>
