Yeah weird... I know I've seen kits like this before on GB and couldn't figure it out then either.

Did you ask why he cut up a perfectly good SP89? Would still be legal to own in CA.

Maybe he isn't the one who cut it up? Government auction from the result of a confiscated / turned in gun?
    Just thinking out loud.

    It is weird.

Not sure the price is worth it, myself, unless you're gonna build it yourself. If you're sending it out to be built, at 1500 for the parts and another $100 or so for the receiver flat -- plus labor, you're probably clocking in right around the price of an SP5k.
    Own: HK91, G36k, HK416, P30L, USP SD
Future: HK243? Assuming HK grants my wish.

Many time these are seized by LEO for various reasons-recovered at crime scene, felon in possession, etc. Some departments melt or shred them, some sell them or trade them for equipment, and some cut them into parts kits.

Yea there are a few reasons for it. I know some dealers that bought hk94's from some dept where by contract they were supposed to cut them up.

It is cool and all, but will bear the name of the builder and not HK. Above comment about the total build cost being equal to or greater than a new SP5K is spot on.

The gun came from Cali, and was not configured legally and was cut into a parts kit.
