I would be tempted if it were an 11" version, but the full 16.5" isn't my cup of tea, though someone's gonna be happy with it.

AFAIK, this is basically a HK416A5 besides the lack of select fire and AGB.

Late to the party. They sold 11" FDE, 11" Black, and also 14.5" all sold out. The 16.5" is all they have left.

Does anyone know if these can actually shoot 5.56 NATO ammo and not just .223? If it's the usual case of a .223 rifle not being able to safely shoot 5.56 (even though you can safely shoot .223 in a 5.56), then I guess I don't see the appeal or why these are going for so much. Are people converting these to HK416 variants w/ proper 5.56 barrels, remarking to "HK416", etc.? That is the only explanation I can think of...

    Thanks in advance!

They shoot 556 just fine, and have the proper 556 barrel.

223 is just the roll mark.

In Germany 5.56 & 7.62 are Military calibers. .223 and .308 are considered hunting or sporting calibers, that is why they are marked that way. If you are looking for an official statement from HK on a Rifle/Pistol they did not import, don't hold your breath.

Are there pictures or statements from H&K or some other reputable source that can validate this claim 100%?

Most .223s shoot 5.56 “just fine,” but there are technical reasons that have deemed it unsafe with repeated firing.

I’m wondering what/how H&K has worked around this.

I can validate this claim for you because I have shot lots of 556 through the 11" mr223 I got from AU. When the gun blows up I will report back

I would be real careful with someone telling you what is okay to do and not do until you know for a FACT. Can you shoot 556 in gun chambered for 223 yes but is it advised I personally would NOT YMMV
