A good analogy would be the P80 (Austrian P7 model). In the late 1980s HK Germany made a special run of 5 just for collectors. These are all considered to be P80s, but they would fall into the same category as a BK USSOCOM MK23 from 2019, correct?
    Excellent analogy.

It's different, I agree with you.

It's my lucky MK23 though. I have to avoid simply sticking it into my collection, where it will get mixed in with all the others and become just another MK23, which it is...

AYFKM. Right after an inexplicable jump by $1K. BIN. No previous bid history. Has the effect of boosting perceived market value/"going rate". Whom does this benefit? Well, someone who had more of these would be a good bet.....

:beepingsoundoffscreen: Yeah, that would be my "low probability of genuine coincidence warning alarm".....

With some folks, assuming malfeasance is actually the best default setting. Even if you're wrong occasionally, "better safe than sorry". The few times when you miss out on something are worth all the times you'd have been jammed up. Don't be greedy. That's what con men rely on, your greed and your unwillingness to believe the worst about someone in the absence of real evidence. On a long enough time line, they will always give it to you. It's a variation of the Japanese feudal period saying that "If you sit by the bank of the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by".
