    Yup, HK way of naming things seems... worth researching.
    Well if you figure out the 3-digit logic let me know

    HK243 = Civilian G36 in 5.56
    HK443 = Mil/LE Scar-sada in 5.56
    HK231 = HK443 in 7.62x51...?
    HK123 = HK443 in 300 BO...?

    I miss the old days when you could tell what something is with 2 damn numbers

    I always thought the first name H&K came up with for 'their' AR15 was HK 4 (or something along this line), but had to be dropped due to some trademark issues with Colt, and then they changed it to HL 416 (like in 'Heckler & Koch way to do M4 and M16 right')...
    ...and 417 was just the 'next step'.

    To me HK433 seems to be HK4(16+17)= HK433...
    Although the 7.62x51 variant is scheduled to be called 231.

    Anyone with any insight to the 'new nomenclature at H&K?

    Isn't this the way it works HK?

    HK91
    HK41
    HK51
    ...............all 7.62

    HK93
    HK43
    HK53
    ..............All 5.56

    HK433
    .............All 5.56??

    HK411
    .............All 7.62??

    Of course, then you've got the HK94, SP89, SP5K, MP5 & MP7....and none of those have any rhyme or reason. HK.....Is that right?

    I know it's a bit early to ask as a lot is still subject to change before the gun hits production. Having said that, has it actually been confirmed that the upper will be extruded aluminum and not forged like the 416/417 receivers?

    Reason I ask is there appears to be an official press release from HK indicating it is forged. It also says the bolt group will have self lubricating rails and a firing pin safety.

    Link to German press release - http://augengeradeaus.net/wp-content...ung_-HK433.pdf

    Link to translated (English) press release - https://thearmsguide.com/12107/hks-s...n-rifle-hk433/

    Any of our German speaking members care to see if the translation is correct and the press release does in fact indicate a forged upper instead of extruded?

    No confirmation yet as far as I know, but I say it is likely to be extruded since HK did say that it is cheaper than the 416. I can't see how they can achieve cheaper production cost with a forged monolithic receiver.
