Additional photos would be nice. B&T made a small number of BT96 k guns for special clients that were marked MP5k (I have one). Some were semi-auto only and some were full auto. But the B&Ts that I know about were made in the early 2000s, not in the 1970s.

There isn't by any chance a circle on the side of the pistol grip? If so, that would indicate that it is probably a Chinese clone made by Norinco (they made MP5 clones, but I don't know if they made MP5Ks as well).
If "Dirty Harry" had been made in 1996:
"I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire twelve shots or only eleven?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a HK MARK 23, the only offensive handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

Thanks for the contributions ... I really thought it was a clone ... especially because nowhere is the "Made in W. Germany" engraved...

The weapon is from a collector.

@Brad4065 , my English teacher will feel so bad after your comment...

I do not believe that a clone would have the HK "blue-gray" finish--- appropriate for the era--- or the correct marking fonts--- unless it was the best, forged clone that I have ever seen!!!
The serial number could be definitive--- I was hoping that you could PM me that information (need 5 posts)--- or post it here (only if you want), and I will comment.
A picture of the top receiver markings (SN, date code, proof marks) would be best, especially for the font of the SN.

Also, how is the bolt carrier marked (date/date code- more likely)???
