    Default G36 Bolt heads

How good are the US made G36 bolt heads vs the genuine HK ones?

GSG9 bolts are good, though I've only used them with german extractor, ejector, etc.

I will say you have to keep them oiled and your fingerprints off them. They want to rust, fast.

Do the genuine HK ones rust too? I've never heard of bolt head rusting.

I had one of the US made bolts. It had rust problems almost immediately, and it was also out of spec and wouldn't reliably feed rounds into the chamber. I wouldn't recommend them, but that's just from my personal experience. I only use the German bolts now. No rust or out of spec issues with German bolts, but much harder to find.

I believe HKSpecialist had a bunch for sale. Are they the ones to which you refer? Don’t know if they are US or German.

Yes, those were German OEM bolts, which is why they sold out so quickly.

We should also clarify which us bolts. I have never heard of hdps bolts being prone to rust, that is my experience with gsg9 bolts.

I also have no experience with gsg9 bolts being out of spec.

I've run an old US TN/SW bolt for years, probably a few thousand rounds too, aside from some cosmetic staining, it ran 100%

HDPS bolts are also good to go, and most resemble the real German ones. I'm not sure if either the HDPS or the above are still made.

Nothing beats a German bolt overall of course all things considered, you can find them used to new for $400-$600 give or take. Expensive, yes. But still worth the money IMO. They will only get more expensive. It won't be long before they are in the FN FNC bolt realm and bring in $800 per.
