Default PSG-1 grip frame right side hole purpose?

I acquired a surplus PSG-1 lower from RTG parts to go with my PSG-1 trigger pack.

As seen on the web site, there's a hole on the grip frame right side behind the pack. It appears to have been drilled before the frame was finished. What was it for?

    I don't know, but factory PSG1's don't have it.

Future: Done, until HK comes out with something new & nifty. Might start building an FNH collection.

    My thoughts were
    1. Demilling by drilling through the fire control internals. No, it doesn't touch the pack and the hole has finish.
    2. Swiss kill camera - No. They're SEF set trigger packs plus hardware.

There's a hole at the back of the PSG-1 pack and you could conceivably interact with an altered trigger forward movement stop to detect motion although that's a real stretch.

I'm guessing demilling, and subsequent refinishing.. but we'd need a few other examples to see if the hole is in slightly different locations on different samples to confirm that.

Either way, IMO its kind of ugly. I'd take that PG and put it on a different housing, myself.
