    Default German Army Cleaning Kit

So I am cleaning my 91 with standard rod and brush with ballistol . Barrel was oiled and brushed , still dirty and then I got the big idea. Why don’t I try that pull thru chain thing with one of those German army cleaning mops that looks like it was cut off some frau’s kitchen mop. I think there were about 18 strings which I dutifully thread thru the eye on the end of the chain . I threaded the chain down thru the barrel breech to muzzle rested the receiver back end on my sneaker and started pulling. My advice DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. Holy smokes, it took a lot of force to pull that mop thru the barrel. I ended up squirting a lot of Ballistol in the barrel to get it to budge all the while praying that the chain doesn’t break.

A .30 cal bore snake does that job best.

That and an E&L brush on a short rod.

You sure it wasn't an 8mm kit?

It was in a plastic box so I guess it is a G3 kit. The mops were in a big cardboard box, I’ll take a look at that for markings.
