Default G36 Carry Handle on SL8 Front Screw Doesn’t Fit

So I’ve been collecting parts for a G36 conversion and I went to put the carry handle on the SL8 to see how it would look, back 2 screws fit but the front screw doesn’t reach all the way through and comes up short of coming out the hole on the other side. Am I missing something? I thought the mounting hardware for the SL8 rail would work on the carry handle optic, and the back two work but the front does not. All 3 screws are the same size. Am I supposed to get a longer screw from somewhere? Has anyone else run into this problem before?

The front screw is longer on the G36 single/dual optic rail:

Ahhhh that would explain everything thank you so much.

Hey you wouldn’t happen to know the part number for the Picatinny rail that goes on the carry handle on top of the optic would you? Can’t find it, or the part anywhere.

Pretty sure there isn’t a separate part number for them. The optics either had them or didn’t. I do know guys have retrofitted theirs to have a rail but those were not factory rails they added.

So I guess no aftermarket rails would fit then?

There are a hand full of various rails that fit the SL8/G36 platform, the screw for the most forward mount is a few mm longer than the 2 in the rear.

I can make one based off of the rail section on my optic. It would be polymer. We would need to study how to attach it.

Thank you bspring I ordered the screw with them and it shipped out already.

Nzfly, it attaches with two screws on top. I have the screws just haven’t been able to locate a rail. How can you go about making it?
