    Default HK91 flash hider

I'm considering the purchase of a HK91. When I looked at the rife in person I noticed it had this flash hider. I have never seen one like this or any pictures on the web. I'm guessing the original flash hider was taken off and this just screwed on in its place? Any help would be great.

That is threaded on? Where is the seam? I'm no expert but I've never seen anything like that on an HK.

Replacement standard HK muzzle devices are easy enough to come buy if that is the rifle's only shortcoming?

I'm sure the experts will be along shortly

I measured the barrel from the receiver to extender end and it was 18". I can see what appears to be threads through one of the tap holes. The barrel is 16" without the device.

I have a recollection about these, I am thinkinng they were silver soldered on for ban states compliance. I was going to ask if you can see the threads looking into it, so you might be able to take it back. Look on the underside to verify it wasnt plugged and welded underneath. Look under good light for evidence of a spot weld. Distortions of surface, etc. If you do not find evidence of that try heat and see if it will come off.

    Welcome to the site!!!
Is this an HK91, or HK911?
Definitely not a factory finish on the barrel/barrel sleeve.

maybe it's just a shroud threaded onto the 15x1 factory threads like Estes used to make for

Thats what I'm hoping. I'm taking it to a gunsmith tonight. When I look into the end of it I can see threads. I just dont understand why it would be put over the barrel.

perhaps it resided in a State that threaded barrels weren't allowed?? and this was to hide it despite not completely as you
